Community planting days are a great chance to head out to a beautiful location, get your hands dirty and enjoy a morning in the fresh air. You will see first hand where plants from the nursery end up and help to rebuild native habitats one plant at a time.
Absolutely everyone is welcome, no experience is required, and our core volunteers will be on hand to show you how it’s done. Your help will make a difference and you will leave your mark on the Cromwell and Lake Dunstan landscape for years to come.

Maintenance Days:
Spring has arrived and this is the best time to get weeds under control and then mulch around the plants before the summer heats up. We have a maintenance group of 3–5 men and women that meet regularly every week to work together for a couple of hours at a time, as weather allows.
We rotate around the 3 sites, and are currently working at the South end of Richards beach, usually Monday mornings, Wednesday afternoons or Friday mornings. There are thousands of plants to take care of but with a group we can make a real impact! We focus our efforts through September and early October.
We communicate by text to all interested on the day, just to confirm timing and site which is sometimes dependent on the weather. If you would like to get involved please give Kirsten a call on 027 388 3441.
WHAT TO BRING: Hat, gloves, water, good footwear, a shovel if you have one … and friends, family and enthusiasm!
